Sterlitamak, The Republic of Bashkortostan

Sterlitamak is the former capital of the Bashkir ASSR. The city is situated on the left bank of the Belaya River (a tributary of the Kama River), 121 km south of Ufa. Sterlitamak is a major center of the chemical industry and mechanical engineering. It is the second largest population in the republic after the capital of Bashkortostan - Ufa. Sterlitamak is the center of the South of Bashkortostan polycentric agglomeration with strong production potential and a population of about 600-700 thousand people. The city-forming enterprise is JSC “SODA”.
